Reflecting Lives Anthology
Reflecting Lives was a creative writing project run by Just Services and funded by the Arts Council England. The purpose of the project was to enable people whose voices are often not heard by mainstream society to talk and write about their lives, for others to listen and understand.
Reflecting Lives raised and explored some of the issues which isolate and stigmatise people, whether that be because of age, disability, or where they live.
A 28 page anthology celebrating the writing of people who took part in Reflecting Lives has also been published. It includes poems, short stories and articles.
All profit from the sale of the Reflecting Lives Anthology will go to Leicester-based charity, mosaic:shaping disability services.
Exerts from Reflecting Lives…
You feel yourself spiralling out of control at an alarming rate, rather like an express train going downhill. Like a helter-skelter, you are losing control. (A Nervous Breakdown, Barbara Mackness)
I did not want to know him,
Mr Bone-Twist.
I feared him, feared his fire, his pain
(Arthritic War, Paul Chafer)
An educative read for all involved in social care and health.
